A little more about Carla

For the past 18 years I have been running my own private practice in paediatrics, treating kids ages 3 and older.

I am a certified Ayres Sensory Integration Therapist (certified through SAISI) since 2014 and this has benefitted me and many children struggling with Sensory Processing Disorder and how to cope with the school and social environement.

For the past 10 years my practice has been based in Centurion. Before that I lived and worked in Phalaborwa.

I have been a HOD of a therapy deparment and a special needs school called Via Nova school in EastLynn for 4 years, worked in acute adult psychiatry at Vista Clinic for 4 years and for 8 months dipped my toes into forensic psychiatry at Sterkfontein Hospital.

I studied at Tuks (university of Pretoria) and graduated in 1999.

All about my book

Something to think about.

“Early support doesn’t just

change development

— it changes a child’s entire future.”

“You’re not overreacting —

you’re paying attention.

And that’s where progress begins.”

“Don’t wait for them to

‘grow out of it’

— help them grow through it.”

From my pen.

I love helping kids reach their full potential whatever this may mean for each child as each child is different.

Children shouldn’t experience any stress at their age and should find school easy and fun.

I aim to assist children to be happy at school, have a few good friends and be as independent as possible in their daily tasks.

It is important that the child, parents and teacher takes hands with me in facilitating the necessary skills that the child is struggling with
